Versailles, 1790-something. When Flavie comes to her brother, Sacha, and begs him to abandon his position as a servant and flee with her to Spain, she’s convinced they’re both going to die if they stay on the estate. A mysterious illness is spreading, turning the lords’ and ladies’ skin black and blue. Entangled in a strange, co-dependent relationship with his Lord, Sacha must decide whether to leave with his sister, or risk staying in this decaying manor.
This play contains onstage kissing, intimacy (not sex), inappropriate language, depiction of murder (the threat of death), dark themes, and graphic depictions of illness.
Tickets for gallery productions are available in the Theatre Building lobby one hour before show time. Tickets are free for University of Iowa students (with a valid ID) and $5 for general admission.
