Javier | SEDRICK CABRERA

Sedrick Cabrera Chicano y chulo. Born and raised in the farm working community of Watsonville, CA. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from San José State University where he trained as a classical actor. Through his work, Sedrick hopes to bring light to Latinx struggles and help start a dialogue towards potential solutions. Always striving to find the balance between his classical training and nuance filled upbringing for the most authentic stories possible. 

Consuelo | LULI GOMEZ TERUEL

Luli Gomez Teruel is a third-year MFA actor at the University of Iowa. Born and raised in Salta, Argentina, she’s one of the founding members of the children’s theater company “La Autentica.” Favorite performance credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena), Three Sisters (Natasha), Orlando (Sasha/Marmaduke), Seven Spots on the Sun (Monica), The Penelopiad (Penelope), Making Charlie (Charlie), and a workshop performance of Monument (4 Sisters) (Mac). Eugenio | ANTONIO VEGA

Antonio Vega is a director, actor, playwright and translator born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, where he graduated from ETX Jalisco School of Theater. He has also trained with Teatro Estudio (TEES) in Guadalajara; the Mexican Improvisation League in Mexico City; Odin Teatret in Holstebro, Denmark; American Institute of Comedy and the HB Studio in NYC, and the Actors Center in London. In 2004, Vega joined Por Piedad Teatro, he became the company’s artistic director in 2012. In 2013 Vega and collaborator Ana Graham partnered with The Play Company to present Ettore Scoal´s Working On a Special Day in New York at 59E59. In 2015 he created, co-directed and starred on The Duchamp Syndrome which premiered at The Flea in New York City. He has been a resident artist of Tofte Lakes Center, Blue Mountain Art Center, and at Berkeley Repertory Ground Floor. In Mexico he recently directed in Spanish Terror by Ferdinand Von Schirach, and co-directed with Ana Graham El Ensayo (10 Out of 12) by Anne Washburn and Winter Solstice by Roland Schimmelpfennig. As an actor he has performed in more than thirty plays. Last year he was cast as Iago in Mexico City’s production of Shakespeare’s Othello and as Saturnino in Titus Andronicus. He is currently collaborating with New York’s playwright Andy Bragen on the development of a new play called Summit.

Jarek Pastor is a multi-lingual/ethnic/national person who primarily writes works for performance. They are a second-year MFA candidate at the University of Iowa's Playwrights Workshop.

Brandon Treviño is currently a senior at the University of Iowa going to school for neuropsychology and acting. Brandon is looking forward to the reading, appreciates your attendance, and hopes you are safe and happy during these trying times.

Madre | MAYTE GOMEZ-CRUZ

Mayte Gomez-Cruz is originally from Des Moines, IA, and is currently completing her music therapy internship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Most recently, Mayte has performed on the virtual stage as Jess in The Cost of Living by Martyna Majok and on the TCR stage as Anatomy Frida Kahlo in Conjure: A Cycle in Three Parts. Mayte is set to graduate from the University of Iowa in May, 2021.

Jessica Murillo is excited to be a part of her second production at the University of Iowa after participating in Sunday in the Park with George.
