Isaiah Reaves headshot

Playwright | ISAIAH REAVES

Isaiah Reaves is an emerging young playwright whose work explores a spectrum of Black and Queer experiences. A native of Cincinnati, he graduated cum laude from Northern Kentucky University in 2020. Reaves’s plays have been staged and read by The Classical Theatre of Harlem at Lincoln Center, Vintage Soul Productions of Connecticut, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, and many others. He is a Jackie Demaline Award finalist, an Iowa Arts Fellow, and a Cincinnati CityBeat Critics Pick recipient. He is currently in pursuit of an MFA at the historic University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop.

Director | CAROLINE S. CLAY

Caroline S. Clay is an associate professor of acting here at the University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts. She is a veteran actress of Broadway (Doubt, The Little Foxes), film (Morning Glory), and television (Grey's Anatomy). She is the winner of the 2021 NAACP Award for Best Actress in a Play (Skeleton Crew). Clay is extremely grateful for the opportunity to support and amplify the voices, stories, and narratives of young artists throughout communities of color.

Dorothy Craven is a second-year theatre arts major from Chicago. This is her first time scenic designing, having previously stage managed for foreclosureSymphonyThree to Five Days, and was an ASM for the Iowa Directors Festival. She would like to thank Caroline, Isaiah, Jordan, and the entire team for making this an amazing production and would like to thank Eric and Bethany for all their support! 

Zamora Simmons

Costume Designer | ZAMORA STILES (SIMMONS)

Zamora Stiles (Simmons) is a costume, makeup, and hair designer from Trinidad and Tobago. She graduated with a MFA in design from the University of Iowa. She recently was costume designer for Riverside Theatre's New Play Rolling World Premiere for Matt Smart’s Eden Prairie, 1971, directed by Adam Knight. She also was the costume designer for Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation of Virginia Wolfe’s Orlando, Sarah DeLappes’s The Wolves, and Nolte Academy’s production of Side Show.

Dramaturg | MICAH ARIEL JAMES

Micah Ariel James is a playwright (Four Stories, How We Bury the War Dead, Better Weather, The Honey War), dramaturg, and teaching artist based in the Iowa City area. She is also a community engagement specialist who develops, supports, and facilitates programs with an eye toward building communities that are welcoming, inclusive, and equitable. Micah received an MFA in theatre arts (playwriting) from the University of Iowa and a BA in playwriting from Columbia College Chicago.

Stage Manager | JORDAN "J.J." JONES

Jordan “J.J.” Jones is a first-year MFA stage management candidate from Clarksville, Tennessee. She previously served as the assistant stage manager for Smile Medicine in the fall. She has greatly enjoyed working with this creative cast and artistic team and is pleased to finally present it to an audience.
