Playwright \| Eli Campbell Eli is a first year playwriting MFA candidate. After getting a BA in Theatre and Spanish here at Iowa, Eli spent the next few years in Chicago, where they interned at the Goodman, collaborated with The Story Theatre, and studied writing with the Chicago Dramatists and Steep Theatre. Their work has been workshopped in Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston, and Dallas, and tends towards themes of queerness, transition and carnality. Titles include Jarred, State of Undress, Nest, Nevers, and In This Seplucher, We Are Fed. Eli is excited to be back in Iowa for further study!

Faculty Consultant \| MEREDITH ALEXANDER Meredith Alexander is Emeritus faculty in the University of Iowa Theatre Arts Department. She directed and taught acting from 1991 to 2019. She was also affiliate faculty in the Department of Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies. While pursuing her MFA at the University of California San Diego, she performed with the Old Globe Theatre Company. She taught at UCSD and San Diego State University before joining the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she headed both undergraduate and graduate acting programs. Alexander has also directed professionally in New York, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Kansas City. She also devised and taught a class for over 10 years for writers and performers on writing and performing their own autobiographical works, which has led to her current primary interest in working with new plays and playwrights. For innovation in addressing diverse identities in the classroom, notably through her Performing Autobiography course that caters to creative writers in a variety of departments, she received the President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence, the highest honor for teaching conferred at the University of Iowa.
