Daisy Hilton | HELAINA KALMAN*

Helaina Kalman is a fourth-year theatre arts major on the musical theatre track. Some of her previous roles include: The Witch (Into The Woods, UIowa), Hecate (Macbeth, UIowa), Cosette (Les Miserables), Cinderella (Into The Woods), and Annabeth Chase (The Lightning Thief). She is so thrilled and grateful to be playing the role of Daisy Hilton in the university's production of Side Show! Helaina would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support, Alice Conroy for being the best sister she could ever ask for, and the rest of the cast, crew, and production team for the work and effort that has created such a wonderful and meaningful show! She hopes you all enjoy Side Show!

Violet Hilton | ALICE CONROY*

Alice Conroy is a fourth-year musical theatre major, and this is her 9^th and final production at the University of Iowa. This show is extra special to her, because when she was young, she consciously absorbed her twin in the womb and has regretted it ever since, so she is so grateful to this show for giving her a second chance at being a twin! Alice wants to thank her family, Mom, Dad, Emma, Lucy, Liam, and Clara, for their unwavering support during the last four years. She dedicates the song “I Will Never Leave You” to them. Finally, she hopes you freaks enjoy the show! 

Jake | BRENNEN MALONE**

Brennen Savon Malone (they/he) is a first-year MFA acting candidate. They are a Philly-born actor. They received their undergraduate degree from Bates College in Lewiston, ME. Some of their recent credits include Joseph/Mr. Sauce in the university’s production of Marie Antoinette. They originated the role of Juicy in the Pulitzer Prize-winning, Fat Ham at the Wilma Theater, as well as played Brad in Rocky Horror Picture Show at Theatre Horizon, Collins in RENT, Hanschen in Spring Awakening at Milton Theatre, and Wilbur in Charlotte’s Web at the Arden Theatre. They are incredibly grateful for their partner, Steven and to be honing their craft here at the University of Iowa among such generous artists.    

Terry Foster ​| LUIS AVALOS*

Luis Avalos is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in theatre arts (music theatre track) and communication studies. His previous University of Iowa credits include Flashes, American Rusałki, Into the Woods, Fathers and Sons, Braided Sorrow, and rockabye. Luis feels blessed for this opportunity to play the role of Terry Connor in Side Show! He would like to extend his gratitude to his family, friends, and faculty for all their support, along with everyone involved in the creation of this beautiful show! Enjoy the show! <3

Aidan Seville is a second-year musical theatre major at the University of Iowa. Aidan’s first show here was Macbeth (Seyton), and most recently he got to be a part of Marie Antionette (Revolutionary #1). Aidan is very excited to do his first musical here at Iowa and couldn’t have imagined a better group to work with. He’d like to thank everyone who gives him rides (they know who they are) and his mother for giving him all of his talent. And he swears that she doesn't make him write that.  

Fortune Teller/Ensemble​​​ | NICOLETTE MAYER*

Nicolette is a third-year undergraduate at the University of Iowa studying theatre arts on the music theatre track. Nicolette has performed in several productions, including Something Rotten (Snug), Macbeth (Witch), Into the Woods (Little Red Riding Hood), American Rusałki (Wioletta), and Uh-Oh! (Violet). She is so grateful to work alongside such an amazing and talented cast and crew! Nicolette sends a heartfelt thanks to her family and friends for their love and support during this entire process. Dolly Dimples/Ensemble ​| HANNA ANDERSON*

Hanna Anderson is a second year theatre arts major on the musical theatre track. Outside of the university she has played roles such as Deloris Van Cartier (Sister Act), Sour Kangaroo (Seussical), and Wednesday Addams (Addams Family). She is excited to make her debut in her very first mainstage production, and even better, it’s a musical! Hanna would like to thank her family for their undying support for her passions and she cannot wait to see you in the audience! 

Lizard Boy/Ensemble | HAYDON BAILEY*

Haydon Bailey is a first-year theatre arts and screenwriting arts double major. Last semester, Haydon was in his first workshop production at the University of Iowa: When You Read This. Haydon’s past high school experiences include numerous high school and community productions including Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf), and The Wizard of Oz (Scarecrow/Hunk). He is so grateful to have been able to work with such a talented group of performers in Side Show, and he is super excited to have participated in his first musical at the University of Iowa!  

Lobster Girl/Vale Sister/Ensemble | FRANCES DAPIER*

Frances is a first-year theatre arts major on the musical theatre track and is planning to eventually add dance and music minors. She is so excited to be in her first mainstage show and musical production at the University of Iowa! She recently performed in both the (T-)Re(x)formation (Cecelia) and Global Express last semester. She is over the moon grateful to have worked with such a wonderful cast and crew. Frances would like to thank her family and friends for constantly supporting her in what she loves doing the most. Abby Dart is a first-year theatre arts major on the music theatre track with a dance minor. She is so excited to be in her first mainstage show at the University of Iowa. Outside of the university, Abby has been seen in roles such as Tatiana Romanov in Anastasia, Cha-Cha DiGregorio in Grease, Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins, and Fastrada in Pippin. Abby wants to thank the talented cast and crew of Side Show, her friends, VP & Sue, and her mom for their constant support. She also wants to thank you, audience, for supporting the arts and hopes you enjoy the show!  

Dog Boy/Ensemble ​| ZACH DOUGLAS*

Zach Douglas is a third-year theatre arts major on the musical theatre track. Zach has been seen performing in the local theatre scene for a year now and has been seen preforming in musicals such as Godspell (Ensemble) and Chicago (Mary Sunshine). Zach is excited to make his Iowa debut in a mainstage production as the side show act of Dog Boy. Doy Boy is well behaved and knows lots of tricks, so if you see him do be shy and shake his hand, and he doesn’t bite much. Zach would like to thank all his friends, family, and colleagues that have cheered him on in the audience, because they are the ones that keep him going and make him strive to achieve his dreams.

From a young age, Zoe adored all aspects of performance from playwriting to singing. This past year she graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Washington, where she performed as Matron Mama Morton in Chicago. Most recently she played Maya in Myocardium; Graphite with Dreamwell Theatre. In her first year at Iowa, she is double majoring in English and creative writing and musical theatre. Zoe is deeply grateful for the unwavering support of her parents, and their tolerance of her incessant singing.

Bella Hohenadel is a third-year theatre arts (music theatre) major with a minor in dance and a certificate in event management. Bella has been in a variety of shows at the University of Iowa and the surrounding community such as Anastasia – City Circle (Ensemble), Into the Woods (Florinda), Macbeth (Witch 1), and many more. Roustabout/Ensemble | DAVID LEE*

David Lee is a first-year undergraduate student cookin' up his physics, astronomy, and sociology majors at the University of Iowa. His previous stage credits include the Dauphin in Marie Antoinette, High School Musical, Big Fish the Musical, The Farnsworth Invention, and Oliver. Although David begins his highly unanticipated journey as a hungry, exploited roustabout, yearning for something excitingly delicious, he leaves the horrific working condition of the side show. He tries his hand at being a reporter and he realizes he has better things to do than write about gossip for two pennies a page. He eventually finds his calling becoming the explorer searching for the 8^th wonder of the world. As an honest traveling storyteller of the world’s unimaginable beauties, he is always up for a spontaneous adventure, to your dining room perhaps, ready to be fed a delicious homemade meal. Yes, dear reader, truly, invite me to dinner. 

Snake Lady/Ensemble ​| HANNAH LIPSKI*

Hannah Lipski is a third-year studying theatre arts on the musical theatre track, and journalism & mass communication. She is from the south suburbs of Chicago and a dancer first and makes both part of her personality. You may have seen her in other Iowa productions, Rockabye (The Strongest Woman in the World), Lil G: A Gatsby Remix (Chorus), and Razor Creek (Ensemble). You may have also seen her on The Daily Iowan TV, where she anchors and does live reporting every week. She’s ecstatic to be part of her first mainstage production! Before her collegiate career, her favorite role was Ellie Blake in Freaky Friday, and her favorite show was A Christmas Story. She would like to thank her parents and grandparents for their constant support, and driving her to every dance class, theatre rehearsal, music lesson and sitting though her at-home performances. She hopes you enjoy the show and are charmed with all of our hard work.

Thomas McCarthy is a first-year theatre arts and statistics double major. Performing onstage is his favorite thing in the world, and he is extremely grateful he gets the opportunity to do it again for his first mainstage show at the University of Iowa. Last semester, Thomas was cast in his first show at the university, The (T-)Re(x)Formation (Jedd). He would like to send a huge thank you to everyone involved in the show for all their hard work, passion, and dedication. Laurel Preston is a fourth-year undergraduate theater arts major, getting her double minors in religion studies and English. She has been a part of various productions at the university, including Into the Woods (Narrator), Reflections (Betty), and Fathers and Sons (Katya). She is so thankful to all the hardworking people in the cast and crew and would like to shout out her parents and friends for always supporting her in her theater endeavors. She hopes you will enjoy the show just as much as she enjoyed helping create it!

Raimundo San Martin is a second-year undergraduate student, double-majoring in vocal performance and theatre arts on the music theatre track. He is studying under the tutelage of Dr. Élise DesChamps. His previous University of Iowa credits include Flashes (Mikey/Micah) and Cosí fan tutte (Ferrando cover). Other recent credits include Spring Awakening (Georg) and The 25^th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip). Rai would like to thank everyone who gave him a ride home after rehearsal. 

Tattooed Lady/Ensemble/Dance Captain | CHLOE SCHWAB*

Chloe Schwab, a second-year theatre arts student with a minor in dance, is actively involved in the university's performing arts scene. Recently cast in Home is Where the TV Is, Fierce: The Opera, and When You Read This, she showcases her talent both on stage and behind the scenes. In addition to performing, she frequently choreographs. Chloe would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support and pushing her to pursue her passion.

Ella Sirna is a second-year musical theatre major with a minor in music who is thrilled to portray a wide array of characters in Side Show! You might recognize her from Dance Nation last winter or from a local improv show as a member of Janice. Ella is grateful for all the wonderful people in the past two years who helped get her back to her loud, singing self again. <3

John Stinson is a fourth-year undergraduate theatre arts major on the musical theatre track at the University of Iowa. John is very excited for this opportunity to let his freak flag fly, and perform a tiger roll on stage. John has been in Into the Woods (Ensemble), Uh-Oh (Orville), and Lil G: A Gatsby Remix (Fierce Ensemble). John is incredibly thankful for his friends, family, castmates, and the production team, and looks forward to seeing what they all do next!!

Abby Weiss is a third-year theatre arts major with a minor in English and a certificate in event management. Abby has had so much fun participating in past productions at the University of Iowa such as Macbeth (Caithness/1st Murderer), Home Is Where the TV Is (Mallory/#1), Razor Creek (Small Willa/Others), and When It Matters Most (Receptionist). She has had so much fun working on Side Show and this entire process. Abby would like to send a huge thank you to her friends and family for always supporting her (and for having to listen to her practice all the time).

Isak West is a first-year English and creative writing major at the University of Iowa. He has appeared in rad shows like Pippin, Curtains, and Bat Boy the Musical. Outside of theatre, Isak writes sketch comedy, performs silly songs, and is the current reigning world champion of swinging like Tarzan on a rope and then falling into mud with style (Kashima Gatalympics, 2024). He is very excited to be performing as many characters in Side Show and he is still very confused as to what the word “roustabout” means. For their endless support, he would like to thank his mother, father, brother, and the original Wiggles from the 90’s. Oh, and he extends a special thanks to (insert your name here)!
