Students from the UI Department of Theatre Arts bring the page to life in an evening of staged readings of work by the IWP (International Writing Program) Fall Residents.
Global Express is a unique opportunity for writers from around the world and performers here at Iowa to meet and work together, and then to present their work live on stage at the University. As political issues continue to challenge the international social fabric, initiatives like Global Express (now, amazingly, in its 22nd year!) help us to recognize our common humanity while celebrating our differences. The Express, part dramatic reading, part solo-turn, part poetry slam, makes stops around the globe, "expressing" our common need for connection, empathy, and delight in each other. All Aboard!
Please be advised that this reading may contain references relating to sexual content, death, relationship abuse, and war throughout.
Approximate run time will be 80 minutes.
This event is free and open to the public.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Department of Theatre Arts in advance at 319-335-2700.
