In the heart of Florida’s space coast, NASA’s shuttle program is ending just as Jess returns home from her third tour in Afghanistan. Scarred from an IED explosion, Jess navigates extreme pain from third-degree burns, her frayed relationships with her sister and ex-boyfriend, and the reality that the home she is returning to is no longer the one she left. With the help of an experimental virtual reality therapy, Jess begins to heal her wounds in an aching journey about recovery and being seen in Lindsey Ferrentino’s award-winning Ugly Lies the Bone.
