Ikram Basra headshot

Playwright | IKRAM BASRA

Currently a member of the University of Iowa's Playwrights' Workshop, Ikram Basra has borne witness to the national life of Pakistan as a journalist, TV producer, lyricist, and poet. His poems are widely published in Urdu journals and newspapers in Pakistan and India, and broadcast in Pakistan and China. His previous plays include Bishan Singh, Sunflowers, Familiar Laughter, and A Village in South Asia.

Director | SARAH GAZDOWICZ

Sarah Gazdowicz is a first-year MFA Directing candidate. Before coming to Iowa City, Sarah lived and worked in the greater Boston area for over ten years working as a director, performer and educator with theatres at every level. Previous UIowa productions: Effective by Charlie O’Leary. Other recent directing credits: The Last Catastrophist, Peter and the Starcatcher, and The Nether. A special thanks to Ikram for his trust and for sharing this story with us.

MFA, DFA, Yale Drama School. Co-Head, Iowa Playwrights Workshop; Artistic Director, Iowa New Play Festival. Dramaturg for Yale Rep, Oxford Stage, theatre project Tokyo, other theatres. Published articles in Norton Anthology of Drama, other books. Acting includes Seven Woolly Mammoths Wander New England (Mainstage, 2017). Thanks go to his family for allowing extra indulgence of his theatrical habits this semester.

Art Director | BETHANY KASPEREK

Bethany Kasperek  is a second-year MFA scenic and costume design student at the University of Iowa with a BFA from the University at Buffalo. At Iowa, Bethany's credits include costume design for Bonnets (How Ladies of Good Breeding are Induced to Murder), scenic design for Three Sisters and Generation Candyland: A Fable, and art direction for Breath Behind The Mask. She is grateful for the perseverance of theatre and hopes you enjoy this production!

Media and Film | KATIE PHELAN

Katie Phelan is a Midwest-based screendance creator, researcher, choreographer, and educator pursuing her MFA in Dance at the University of Iowa. She holds a BFA in Dance, double minor in journalism and advertising from Oakland University. Katie is the founder of 16:9 Dance: a ScreenDance Collective. Her films have been shown in Festival of the Arts, Beijing Dance Academy's Dance Forum, Trifecta Dance Collective's Choreographer Showcase, American Dance Festival Association.

Sound Designer | COLTEN LANGFITT

Colten Langfitt is a sound designer, composer, engineer, and mixer based out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and currently holds a BA in Theatre Arts. His previous work with the University includes Hit the WallOrlandoSunday in the Park with George, and Blackberry: A Burial. He has also designed King George IV with Riverside Theatre.
