Head Over Heels – Meet the Cast
King Basilius | BRENNEN MALONE** Brennen Savon Malone (they/he) is a second-year MFA acting candidate. They are a Philly-born actor and received their undergraduate degree from Bates College in Lewiston, ME. Their previous University of Iowa credits include Argonautika, Adaku, Side Show, and Marie Antoinette. Before coming to the university, they originated the role of Juicy in the Pulitzer Prize-winning, Fat Ham at the Wilma Theater, as well as played Brad in Rocky Horror Picture Show at Theatre Horizon, Collins in RENT and Hanschen in Spring Awakening at Milton Theatre, and Wilbur in Charlotte’s Web at the Arden Theatre, and Parmesan in Gay Mis with Jaffe St. Queer Productions. They are incredibly grateful for their partner, Steven, their MFA cohort, Michael, and this community of generous artists at the University of Iowa. |
Queen Gynecia | ZOE MAE NOLTE* Zoe is beyond excited to bring Head Over Heels to the University of Iowa stage as #Mother #Queen Gynecia. This May, Zoe will graduate from the University of Iowa with a BA In theatre arts and will continue her acting journey in New York. She wants to thank Mom and Dad, her incredible friends, Riley, of course Michael, Mark, Reed, and the whole team for putting this show together and bringing to life this experience of joy, love, and self-discovery. Pamela | HANNA ANDERSON* Hanna Anderson is a third-year theatre arts student on the musical theatre track. You may have seen her in the university's recent productions of Side Show (Dolly Dimples), 3 Cubes and a Ghostlight (Avery, Bea, Viv, Drugs, Narrator), Drag Da’ Lore (Drag Thing/Mother Nature), and Only A Mask (Dr. Karcharias). Hanna loves nothing more than getting on stage and expressing herself, and she is beyond excited for you to see Head Over Heels! She wants to thank her family first and foremost, for providing her with everything she needs to pursue her dreams, no matter how big. She also wants to extend gratitude to the amazing cast and crew for creating such a joyous and dedicated project. Grab your Go-Go boots and enjoy the show!! |
Philoclea | NICOLETTE MAYER* Nicolette is so grateful to be performing in her last production at the University of Iowa. She is a fourth-year undergraduate studying theatre arts on the music theatre track. Nicolette has performed in several productions at the university, including Romeo and Juliet (Juliet), Into the Woods (Little Red Riding Hood), Side Show (Fortune Teller), and Something Rotten! (Snug). Outside of the university, she’s been in Grease (Rizzo) and White Christmas (Rhoda). Musidorus | RAIMUNDO SAN MARTIN MONTERO* Raimundo San Martin Montero (he/him) is a Chilean-born, third-year undergraduate student at the university pursuing a BA in theatre arts and a BA in music. Recent credits include Argonautika (Pelias/Tiphys), Side Show (Reptile Man/Ensemble), Flashes (Mikey/Micah), and Spring Awakening (Georg). Rai is so thankful to be doing a musical with all his best friends. He extends the utmost gratitude to the company for fostering a space of growth, discovery, and community. |
Mopsa | CHLOE SCHWAB* Chloe Schwab is finishing her final semester at the University of Iowa, where she will be graduating with a BA degree in theatre arts on the music theatre track. Chloe’s recent credits include Home is Where the TV Is (Jenny/Allison), Fierce (Dancer), When You Read This (Caroline/Angie), Side Show (Tattooed Lady/Ensemble/Dance Captain), and Argonautika (Athena) at the University of Iowa, as well as Mamma Mia (Ensemble Swing), and Chicago (Annie/Ensemble) at Circa 21’ Dinner Playhouse. Outside of performing, she is passionate about choreography and teaching. She is currently on staff at Tina’s Dance Studio, and Nolte Academy, and contributes choreography to The Spotlight Theatre in Moline, Illinois as well. Chloe extends a heartfelt thanks to her parents, family, friends, and boyfriend Ashton, whose love and encouragement have made her artistic journey possible. Enjoy the show! |
Dametas | THOMAS MCCARTHY* Thomas McCarthy, a second-year undergrad at the University of Iowa, is pursuing a BA in theatre arts on the musical theatre track and a BA in economics. He is extremely excited to be a part of another incredible production at the university. You may have seen Thomas in past university productions such as The (T-)Re(x)Formation (Jedd), Side Show (Roustabout/Ensemble), 3 Cubes and a Ghostlight (Actor 6), Drag’Dalore (Zachary Scott Brandon/Lincoln Bio), and Argonautika (Sixth Man). Thomas would like to thank everyone involved in the process of bringing this incredible piece of art to life. He would also like to thank his two heroes, his brother, Jack, and his mom, Regan, for supporting him in everything he does. Enjoy the show! |
Pythio | LUIS AVALOS* Luis Avalos is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying theatre arts on the music theatre track, and communication studies. Throughout his time at the University of Iowa, he has performed in Argonautika (Jason), Side Show (Terry Connor), Flashes (Miguel), American Rusałki (Dr. Oliver/Benjamin), Into the Woods (The Wolf), Fathers and Sons (Eugene Bazarov), Braided Sorrow (Man/Officer/Carlos u/s), and rockabye (Confectioner). Post-graduation, Luis will continue his career in Chicago! Luis is forever grateful for this production, and the lovely cast and crew that created the world of Arcadia! Arcadian | HAYDON BAILEY* Haydon Bailey is a second-year undergraduate majoring in theatre arts and screenwriting. His most recent credits include Side Show (Lizard Boy/Ensemble), Romeo and Juliet (Paris), and The Boy with the Sun in His Eyes (Beau). He is absolutely thrilled to be working with such a talented cast and crew and would like to thank them for making the rehearsal process so enjoyable. Arcadian | KITA BOND* Kita is a first-year undergraduate student. This is her second production at the University of Iowa, previously playing the role of Medea in Argonautika last fall. Arcadian | FRANCES DAPIER* Frances Dapier is a second-year theatre arts major on the musical theatre track, with minors in dance and media management. She is so excited to be part of her second mainstage production at the University of Iowa! Most recently, she appeared in the workshop production of Drill, Drill, Drill (Mia) and last year’s mainstage musical Side Show (Lobster Girl, Vale Sister). She is endlessly grateful to her friends and family for their love and support, and to this wonderful cast and crew for making the experience so special. |
Arcadian | ZACHARY DOUGLAS* Zach Douglas is a fourth-year musical theatre student and is very excited to be one of Arcadians. This is Zach’s second University of Iowa production, with his first being Side Show where he played Dog Boy. You may have also seen him as Mort in the production of Mort produced by Dreamwell Theatre Company, and Johnny Casino and Teen Angel in Grease produced by Iowa City Community Theater. Zach would like to thank his friends and family, but most importantly all of the cast and crew who made this show possible. |
Arcadian | HANNAH FIDELI* Hannah Fideli is in her final semester at the University of Iowa. She’ll be graduating with degrees in theatre arts on the music theatre track and journalism & mass communication. She is pursuing a career in TV news. She is so excited to be a part of Head Over Heels as her final show in the theatre department! She’s loved her time here and every production she’s been a part of. Her recent credits include Side Show (Snake Lady/Ensemble), Razor Creek (Little Ket/Ensemble), Lil’ G: A Gatsby Remix (Ensemble/featured dancer), Rockabye (The Strongest Woman in the World). She'll also be in the upcoming opera with the School of Music, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Ensemble chorus/Esmerelda Cover). She would like to thank her parents for supporting her creative endeavors and career choice. She wants to thank her grandparents for taking her to dance class, music lessons and musical rehearsals growing up. Arcadian | MAR Y LUNA HASKINS* Mar Y Luna Haskins is a freshman music theater major at the University of Iowa. She is excited to be in her second production at the university as she recently performed in the workshop Drill, Drill, Drill. Arcadian | BELLA HOHENADEL* Bella Hohenadel is a graduating senior theatre arts (music theatre) major with a certificate in event management. Bella has been in a variety of shows at the University of Iowa and the surrounding community such as White Christmas & Anastasia – City Circle (Ensemble), Into the Woods (Florinda), Macbeth (Witch 1), and many more. Bella will continue her theatre career after graduation in Chicago. Arcadian | MAYA LAPAN-ISLAS* Maya Lapan-Islas is a junior transfer student majoring in musical theater at the University of Iowa. This is her first production at the university, but some of her previous works include: Theater Cedar Rapids: The Wolves (#46) Kirkwood Community College: Into The Woods (Sleeping Beauty) and Chicago (Annie). She’s honored to work with such talented individuals who share the same passion and is very grateful for the opportunity to be able to tell this kind of story today. |

Arcadian | JIMMY REMPEL* Jimmy Rempel is a first-year theatre arts student on the musical theatre track. This is Jimmy’s second show with the University of Iowa, the first being Romeo and Juliet (Capulet Ensemble). Jimmy has also been involved in recent community projects such as the Nolte Madrigal (Shepherd), and the staged reading of Steven Gross’ new musical The Boy with the Sun in His Eyes (Ensemble). He is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast and crew, and would like to thank them, his family, and his friends for being so uplifting and supportive in all aspects of his life. Arcadian | JOHN STINSON* John Stinson is a senior at the University of Iowa. He is constantly refining himself as a performer both in Drag and on stage. John Stinson has been in numerous plays at the University of Iowa, including Side Show, Drag da’lore, and Macbeth. John would like to thank his friends, family, and especially his mentee and grandmentee for reminding him of what theatre is about. |
