Playwright | SIXTUS CHETA IGBOKWE

Sixtus Chetachi “Cheta” Igbokwe is an MFA candidate at the Iowa Playwrights Workshop and a Graduate Teaching Assistant. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he also edited "The Muse, Number 48;" a journal of creative and critical writing, the oldest surviving students' journal in West Africa, founded by Chinua Achebe in 1963. He is a 2019 alumnus of the Purple Hibiscus Trust Creative Writing Workshop, facilitated by the Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. He wrote the screenplay of Island of Happiness—a film described by the Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, as a “magnificent work of art.” His works have appeared in The Hopkins Review, Oyster River Pages, Selfies and Signatures Anthology, The Muse, and elsewhere. His debut play, Homecoming (UNN Arts Theatre 2021 & Wole Soyinka Theatre 2023), won The Association of Nigerian Authors' (ANA) Prize for Drama 2021 and was nominated for the 2023 Nigeria Prize for Literature, Africa’s largest literary prize.

Mathew Kier is a third-year Theatre Arts, Cinema, and Screenwriting triple major with a focus in Stage Management. Previous stage management work includes being assistant stage manager for Macbeth and The Bacchae, as well as stage managing the Ten-Minute Play Festival and BOOTH for New Play Festival last year.
